William Allen Wood, known affectionately to many as Bill, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, in Edgewood, Kentucky. Born on December 31, 1953, in Covington, Kentucky, Bill’s life was marked by dedication, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to both his family and his craft.

Bill devoted nearly 40 years as a union pipefitter with Local Union 392, a career through which he not only honed his skills but also exemplified a spirit of camaraderie and support for his colleagues. He was always willing to help anyone with anything, especially when it came to fixing things, a trait that earned him respect and admiration throughout his professional and personal life. His ingenuity and resourcefulness were well-known; he had a particular fondness for fixing things with duct tape, a testament to his practical approach and inventive mind.

Beyond his work, Bill was a man of many interests. He was a passionate bargain hunter, finding joy in discovering treasures wherever he went. A history buff with a special focus on World War II, he carried a deep appreciation for the past and its lessons. Bill also cherished his trips to Myrtle Beach, which brought him much relaxation and pleasure.

Central to Bill’s pride and joy was his family. He was devoted to his wife, Margaret Joan Wright (nee Bess), with whom he shared a lifetime of memories and unconditional love. Together, they raised a loving family that includes daughter Kristyn (Scott) Beschman, daughter Kelly (Ross) Hobler, son Kevin Wright, and daughter Kari (Michael) Perkins. Bill took immense pride in his many grandchildren: Kayla Wharff, Tyler (Alana) Beschman, Erin Beschman, Johanna Wright, RJ Hobler, Kadin Wright, Maci Fabre, Conor Perkins, Callie Perkins, and Wyatt William Perkins. His affection extended to his great-grandchildren, Izzy Wharff and Marli Beschman, who held a special place in his heart. Bill was also a cherished uncle to Amy (Kurt) Mintchell, Todd (Tom) Duesing, Jonathan Lavelle, and Jeremy (Melissa) Lavelle, and was loved by a broad circle of family members and friends.

Bill’s family remembers him not only for his strong work ethic and handy skills but also for his warm personality and the joy he found in everyday moments. He was a man who valued family above all else, particularly his grandchildren and his beloved dogs, which he considered among his proudest accomplishments.

He is preceded in death by his father, William L. Wood, his step-mother, Alice Wood, daughter-in-law, Jackie Wright, and his sisters Patricia Duesing and Diane Wood, who remain fondly in the hearts of those who knew and loved Bill.

William Allen Wood’s legacy is one of love, dedication, and kindness. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. In remembering Bill, we celebrate a life well-lived, a man who touched many lives with his generosity and steadfast spirit.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date and the obituary will be updated accordingly.
