Vonda Thoma

Vonda Mae Thoma, age 85, of Elsmere, Kentucky, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. She was born on May 19, 1940, in Barbersville, Kentucky, to the late Elmer and Beulah Spivey (née Philpot).

Vonda was known for her warmth and kindness, embracing the role of a mother not just to her own children, but to all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her welcoming spirit made everyone feel at home, and she cherished the moments spent with her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Vonda took great joy in nurturing those around her, always ensuring that everyone enjoyed a hearty meal. Her beloved pets held a special place in her heart. A gifted cook and baker, she was especially renowned for her delicious Buckeyes. In her leisure time, Vonda loved watching her favorite soap operas and Wheel of Fortune, as well as indulging in her passion for shopping and collecting fine china.

Vonda is reunited in peace with her father, Elmer Spivey; her mother, Beulah Spivey; her husband, Joseph Thoma, Sr.; her brother, Kenny Spivey; and other cherished loved ones. She is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph Thoma; her children, Joseph Thoma, Jr., Tonya Thoma, John Thoma, and Tina Thoma; her grandchildren, Taylor (Johnnie Shephard) Thoma, Joseph (Tiana Adams) Thoma, Noelle Thoma, and Preston Thoma; her great-grandchildren, Amiyah Shepherd, Johnnie Shepherd III, and Elijah Shephard; her brother, Jerry Spivey; her daughter-in-law, Holly Peach; and a host of other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Northern Kentucky Chapel, located at 4350 Dixie Highway, Erlanger, Kentucky. A graveside service will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
