Sonya Lee Campbell

Sonya Lee Campbell, née Basye, passed away on October 22, 2026, in Edgewood, Kentucky. She was born on January 21, 1949, in Phoenix, Arizona.

Sonya will be remembered as a kind, funny, and loving wife, mother, and memaw whose care for her family was reflected in the warmth of her home and the way she lived each day. She took pride in keeping a meticulously clean home, and she found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She liked music, enjoyed shopping, and lovingly cared for her garden and rose bushes.

For almost 30 years, Sonya worked as an IRS analyst, bringing dedication and commitment to her career. Those who knew her also knew the steady love and presence she gave to the people closest to her.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Campbell, who went by Michael; her sons, Bryan Scott (Stephanie) Campbell , and Michael Shane (Laurie) Campbell; her granddaughter, Bryanne Campbell; and her sisters, Pamela Rhodus and Robin Glenn. She will be deeply missed by her family, who knew her as a constant source of love, humor, and care.

Sonya was preceded in death by her father, Robert Basye; her mother, Pauline Basye, née Tyree; her brother, Jimmy Basye; and her sister, Debbie Bayse. Their memories remained part of her life and story, and she now rests with those who went before her.

Visitation will be held on October 30, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northern Kentucky, 4350 Dixie Hwy, Erlanger, Kentucky 41018. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
