Shirley J. Brock

Shirley J. Brock, age 74, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2025. She was born in Enterprise, Mississippi, on August 29, 1950, to Roy and Iva Brock (nee Overstreet).

Shirley was preceded in death by her loving parents, Roy and Iva; her son, Derrick Brock; her sisters, Dorothy Jackson and Mattie Brock; and her brother, Roy Brock, Jr. She is survived by her cherished daughter, Denna Brock; her grandchildren, Keenan Brock, Kyerra Bell, and Lamiya Thorpe; and great-grandchildren, Keenan Brock, Jr., Kee'Nila Brock, Ky'Mir Brock, Kee'Myria Brock, Trinidy Gardner, Ja'Quel Gardner and Mia Rice. Shirley is also survived by her beloved sisters, Annie Dyess, Annie Crosby, and Ada Jordan, as well as numerous family members and friends who will deeply miss her.

Shirley dedicated 35 rewarding years of her life to teaching for Cincinnati Public Schools, sharing her passion for education and nurturing young minds. Known for her love of family, Shirley often spent joyful moments playing cards, particularly Spades and Tunk, alongside her loved ones. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and expressing her musical talents by playing the organ and piano, both in church and at home.

A woman of deep faith, Shirley cherished her relationship with the Lord and was known for her quiet yet vibrant spirit. She had a gentle demeanor, which could quickly turn playful—especially when teased. Her favorite saying, "Have Fun!" reflected her outlook on life, and she loved music and dancing, especially when surrounded by family.

Visitation will take place at Newcomer Cremations Funerals Receptions, located at 3300 Parkcrest Lane, Cincinnati, Ohio 45211, on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Vine Street Hill Cemetery.
