Ronald Denton Bates, a cherished son, brother, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his beloved family on November 15, 2025, in Florence, Kentucky. Born on August 27, 1947, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Ronald was a charismatic presence whose great personality and humor left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
As a Marine veteran, Ronald served his country with honor and pride, embodying the values of courage and commitment that define true leadership. His sense of duty extended beyond his military service, as he dedicated himself to fostering a warm and loving family environment, of which he was justifiably proud.
Ronald is survived by his son, Robert Bates, and his brother, also named Robert Bates. He shared a special bond with his former spouse and the mother of his son, Carolyn Miceli, and found immense joy in being a grandparent to Grayson Bates. Ronald is also remembered fondly by his nephew, Shane Bates, along with a host of other family members and friends who will carry his memory forward.
While Ronald will be dearly missed, his legacy of love, laughter, and family will remain etched in the hearts of those who knew him.
