Robert Lee Prather, lovingly known as Bob, passed away on October 2, 2026, in Edgewood, Kentucky, at the age of 83. He was born on December 29, 1942, in Somerset, Kentucky.
Bob will be remembered as a colorful storyteller whose presence brought warmth, laughter, and personality to every gathering. He loved boating and enjoyed going to the beach, finding happiness in time spent near the water. He was also a devoted sports fan, especially an avid UK fan, and took great pleasure in cheering on his team. Above all, Bob loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, who brought him immense pride and joy.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Carla Prather. He also leaves behind his children, Jon “Rob” Prather and his wife Christine, Jill Prather, Jenna Stadtmiller and her husband Kyle, and Jason Prather and his wife Abi. His family continued to grow through the generations, and he is also survived by his grandchildren, Rob Hill, Cassidy Prather, Blake Hill, Christen Thompson and her husband Tanner, Lyndsay Prather, Casey Acree, Garrett Acree, Willie Stadtmiller, Waylon Stadtmiller, Hank Stadtmiller, Murphy Prather, Johnny Stadtmiller, Delaney Prather; his step-grandchildren, Jake Paliobeis, and Hannah Paliobeis; and by his great-grandchildren, Owen Thompson, Bennett Wright, and Parker Thompson.
Bob is also survived by his brother, Ed Prather and his wife Susan; his sister, Patty Bryson; and his sister-in-law, Melva Prather. He was preceded in death by his father, John Robert Prather; his mother, Ruth Ella Prather; his stepmother, Lecta Prather; his brother, Russell Prather; his sister, Margie Harlow; and his stepbrother, Gene Lafavers.
Family and friends are invited to honor Bob’s life on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northern Kentucky, 4350 Dixie Hwy, Erlanger, Kentucky 41018. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a memorial service beginning at 3:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at 4:00 p.m. at White House Event Center, 251 Dudley Rd, Edgewood, Kentucky 41017.
Bob’s life was marked by his love of family, his enjoyment of good stories, and the many simple pleasures that meant so much to him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob's name are suggested to DCCH Center for Children and Families.
