Robert D. Gregory

Robert D. Gregory, age 87, of Erlanger, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025. He was born on August 11, 1937, in Bellevue, Kentucky, to William and Kathryn Gregory (nee Kruger).

Bob, as he was affectionately known, attended Bellevue High School before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1956, where he proudly served on the USS New Jersey. He married his beloved wife, Rose Ann, on February 6, 1960. Together they created a loving family, sharing four children, 14 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Bob was a devoted husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather who found immense joy in spending time with his family.

Throughout his career, Bob worked for the Palm Beach Company and dedicated 37 years to running an Enquirer paper route. He had a wide range of interests, including fishing, collecting coins and antique miniature cars, golf, and passionately supporting the University of Kentucky Wildcats, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Cincinnati Bengals. Bob had a special fondness for his dogs, particularly Bo and Cassie, and treasured his Sunday mornings reading the Bible on his back porch. His faith was evident in his active role as an Elder and Deacon at Elsmere Church of Christ, where he also taught Sunday school.

Bob had a zest for life, enjoying travels that took him to Hawaii, Florida, and Las Vegas, among other destinations. He is remembered for his kind heart, generous spirit, and unwavering commitment to his family and community.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Gregory; mother, Kathryn Gregory; grandchild, Seth McClurg; great-grandchild, Abel McClurg; and siblings, Nancy Duechle, William Gregory, Phyllis Bobinger, Hazel Gregory, Roy Scott (brother-in-law), and Timothy Amussen (brother-in-law).

Bob leaves behind his devoted wife of 65 years, Rose Ann Gregory (nee Baxter); daughters, Colleen (Rick) O'Rourke, Cindy (John) McClurg; sons, Michael (Janet) Gregory, and Jeffrey (Stacey) Gregory; and a cherished group of grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Natalie (Creed) Stewart, Micah (Hannah) Gaunt, Christopher (Jamie) Burgin, Hannah McClurg, Kelly Gregory, Savannah (Rob) Speaks, Eric (Sarah) Gregory, Hunter Gregory, Spencer (Julianna) Gregory, Jody (Benjamin) Smith, Colton Gregory, Phebe Roberts, Alex Roberts, Jaden Gaunt, Jimmy Stewart, Tristan Gaunt, Xavier Burgin, Taven Gaunt, Brody Burgin, Felicity Gregory, Jonah Gregory, R.J. Speaks, Luca Gregory, Gabe Bishop, Mila Bishop, Thea Speaks, Eloise Smith, Grayson Dailey, and Millie Smith; siblings, Sue Scott, Victor (Betty) Gregory, Mary Gregory, Thomas (Rhonda) Gregory, Gayle Amussen, and sister-in-law, Rachel Gregory; along with numerous other family members and friends.

In loving memory of Bob, contributions may be made to Elsmere Church of Christ, located at 124 Carlisle Street, Elsmere, Kentucky 41018.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions, 4350 Dixie Highway, Erlanger, Kentucky 41018. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 11:00 am at the funeral home, followed by burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, where military honors will be bestowed.

Bob’s family would also like to welcome everyone back to the funeral home to share a meal and memories of Bob after the burial.
