Richard "Dick" Allen Toschlog, a steadfast and dedicated man, passed away on June 2, 2026, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born on August 10, 1943, in Richmond, Indiana, Dick lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and an unwavering commitment to service.

Dick’s career was defined by his industrious nature and dedication. He spent 27 years as a skilled mechanic before embarking on an equally long tenure as a truck driver, spending 27 years on the road both locally and over long distances. His solid work ethic was a reflection of his character—reliable, diligent, and quietly proud.

A man of few words, Dick expressed his feelings in his own unique ways, often showing how proud he was of his loved ones without grand gestures. Family was at the core of his being; his greatest accomplishments were seeing his family succeed and being able to provide for them. He was known as a family-oriented individual, who valued relationships deeply and cherished the bonds he held with those closest to him.

In addition to his civilian achievements, Dick served his country with honor and dedication. He devoted 29 and a half years to the U.S. Navy, including eight years on active duty and 21 years in the reserve, exemplifying his commitment and sense of duty.

Dick’s memory lives on in the hearts of his surviving family members. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Penny Toschlog (nee Matheny); his children Christine S. (Philip) Hamilton, Richard C. (Vandy) Toschlog, Anthony (Lora) Matheny, Jessica (Jessie) Baker, and Michael (Katrina) Marler. His legacy also continues through his cherished grandchildren: Timothy (Jennifer) King, Erik (Amber) King, Gabrielle (Garrett) Mikos, Alexandra (Ryan) Hamilton, Samantha Toschlog, Brianna (Blake) Matheny, Michael Marler, Kaden Marler, Matthew Marler, Karson Marler, MacKenzie Baker, Cheyenne Baker, and Nova Baker. He is further survived by his sister, Marcia Funk (widow of the late Lucky Funk), and numerous other relatives and friends who held him dear.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Richard M. Toschlog and Doris M. Toschlog (nee Hileman), as well as his siblings: Thomas Toschlog and Stacia "Stacey" Lashbrook.

Services to honor the life of Richard “Dick” Allen Toschlog will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Side, located at 3300 Parkcrest Lane, Cincinnati, Ohio 45211. Visitation will take place on June 10, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and continue on June 11, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. The funeral service will follow on June 11, beginning at 10:00 a.m. A graveside service will be held at Crown Hill Memorial Park, 10925 Pippin Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231, at 12:00 p.m. the same day.
