Pamela McKalip

November 19, 1957 — July 14, 2025

Cincinnati

It’s with a heavy heart but also a deep sense of gratitude that I share the life of my incredible mother, Pamela Scully, who passed away on Monday, July 14th, 2025, at the age of 67. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing her would agree that she was one of a kind—so full of love, laughter, and kindness that she made the world a better place just by being in it.

Born on November 19th, 1957, to Ralph and Anne, my mom was the heart and soul of our family. She was the kind of person who could make you feel like the most important person in the room with just a few kind words. From the very beginning, Mom was always there, offering her support, her love, and her unshakeable belief in us. She was always ready to cheer us on or give us the wisdom we needed to keep going.

But her love didn’t stop with us. In addition to raising her own children, Mom helped raise many nieces and nephews, and as if that weren’t enough, she became a second mom to her grandchildren as well. She poured her heart into each of us, and her role as a caregiver was never taken lightly. She never hesitated to lend a hand, offer a hug, or share a laugh, even when life was busy or challenging. Her love was constant, and her dedication to our family knew no bounds.

My mom was truly the pillar of our family. She was always the person we could count on when we needed her most. Her generosity wasn’t just in the big moments, but in the small, everyday gestures—whether it was her homemade cookies, the way she always remembered everyone’s birthday, or her ability to make a tough day feel just a little bit better with a single phone call or a well-timed joke. If you ever needed a listening ear or a word of encouragement, she was always there, and she was the one who made sure we all stayed close-knit and supported, no matter what life threw at us.

Her sense of humor was a big part of who she was. She had a laugh that was contagious, and she could find joy in the most unexpected places. Whether she was cracking a joke, sharing a story, or making us laugh at the absurdity of life, she always knew how to lift the spirits of everyone around her. I honestly don’t think there was a time we didn’t find something to laugh about with her.

And though it feels impossible to sum up the impact she had on all of us in just a few words, one thing is clear: my mom had an undeniable love for flowers. She always believed that flowers were life’s simple gift—a reminder of nature’s beauty, no matter how chaotic things got. In her honor, I know she would have loved for you to stop and smell the roses—or any flowers that make you smile. If you feel moved to do something in her memory, perhaps bring a bouquet to someone who could use a little cheer, or plant a flower in your garden and think of her as it blooms.

Mom leaves behind her children: Neal, Chris, Justin, and Ashley, and her mother, Anne, who I know will continue to carry forward the same love she gave so freely. She was also preceded in death by my grandfather, Ralph, who she loved deeply.

While we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the love, laughter, and light she gave us every day. We know she’s still with us, making sure we don’t take life too seriously, encouraging us to find the humor in it all, and reminding us always to live with the same open heart she did.

Rest in peace, Mom. Your love, your kindness, and your laughter will stay with us forever. We’ll carry you in our hearts, and we’ll always remember the joy you brought to our lives.
