It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Michael William Moses, Sr.,76 years old, born on Father’s Day, June 19th, 1949, in Baltimore, Maryland. His parents were Albyon Linwood Moses, Sr. and Carrie Clugston Moses.
After a long battle with lung disease, he passed from this life on October 25th, 2025, at his home in Hebron, Ky, surrounded by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, other loved ones and his new puppy Jax. Mike fought the battle like the warrior he always was.
In addition to his parents, Mike was pre-deceased by his brother, Albyon Linwood Moses, Jr.
Mike is survived by his wife, Nancy Brotherton Moses and his children, Heather, Michele, Carolyn, Mike Jr., Mandy, Shane and Clint, and twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren and his brother, David Clugston Moses,
Mike was raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and left home at an early age, later enlisting in the Army, serving in Vietnam from January 1968 to January 1971, earning the Combat Infantry Badge and 4 campaign stars. He served 21 years as an active Army Reservist. Mike retired from the Army Reserves in 1995. Mike loved serving his country.
He worked as a Federal employee for the Department of the Army and then the General Services Administration for 31 years, retiring in 2008. During these years, Mike also had a Home Improvement business, working evenings and weekends until retirement. He said he liked to stay busy.
During retirement, Mike was very active in the American Legion, he was Post Commander three times and Department of Kentucky Commander 2018-19, National American Legion Press Association President 2014-15, working right up until his passing. was a current member of the Moose. He became a Kentucky Colonel in 2011 through a presentation by the Blue Star Mothers for life achievements and his work for Veterans and the community. He joined the Masons in 2014 and was raised to a Master Mason at the Boone-Union Lodge 304 and was Worshipful Master in 2020. Member of the Covington Valley Scottish Rite since 2015 and obtained the 32nd Degree Master Mason. Member of the Cincinnati Syrian Shriners since 2017. Recently inducted into the Kentucky Veterans Hall of Fame.
Besides his love of serving in all of these positions and living a life of service, he had a variety of hobbies. He enjoyed; riding his motorcycle, collecting and shooting guns, working around the house doing home improvement jobs, having friends over for parties, writing editorial articles for the American Legion, and in recent years, painting yard gnomes. Though all of these things made him happy, he said spending time with his loving wife Nancy, traveling, and doing things they both loved was his favorite.
Mike will be sorely missed. We said goodbye to a remarkable man, a loving husband, a wonderful father and grandfather, and a good friend to so many. As we mourn his loss, we are also grateful for his life, and we celebrate the love and compassion that were so him.
A visitation Wednesday October 29, 2025 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Northern Kentucky Chapel, 4350 Dixie Highway, Erlanger, Kentucky 41018. Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, October 30, 2025 with visitation for 1 hour prior to the service.
