Mary Joanne Thompson

Mary Joanne (Reibling) Thompson, age 90, of Crestview, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2026. Born in Ludlow, Kentucky, on July 4, 1936, she was the cherished daughter of Wilbert Edward and Anna Veronica Prost (nee Grieme).

Joanne was predeceased by her parents, her grandson Connor Gillespie, her aunt Louise “Weezie” Pfaff, uncle William Grieme, cousin Jack Pfaff, and her beloved dog, Willie.

She is lovingly remembered by her son Kenneth Edward Prost and his wife Danielle, daughter Kelly Louise Breen (Gillespie, nee Reibling) and her husband Eugene, as well as her grandchildren: Dustin Gillespie, Haley Gillespie, Tanner Gillespie, Jonah Prost, and Atticus Prost. She is also survived by her dog, Tucker.

Joanne had a deep passion for nature, flowers, herbs, and the charm of country living. She was known for her love of cooking, trying new recipes, writing letters to loved ones, and her keen appreciation of antiques. Her ability to make exceptional salsa was celebrated among family and friends. An ardent history enthusiast, she especially enjoyed exploring the Civil War and sharing her knowledge with her grandchildren.

Her personality was a delightful blend of sweet and spicy, marked by honesty and a wonderful sense of humor. Joanne's vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.

The 11:00 am Mass at St. Philip Catholic Church in Melbourne, KY, will have a special remembrance of Joanne on September 13, 2026.
