Mary Evelyn Mason, affectionately known as "Johnnie," passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, in her hometown of Florence, Kentucky. Born on March 27, 1939, Johnnie lived a life full of warmth and kindness.
Johnnie was a vibrant member of her community and an active participant in the Eastern Star. Her love for animals, especially dogs, was evident throughout her life; she always made sure to have at least one furry companion by her side.
She leaves behind her beloved brother, Donald Lee Haynes (Debbie), along with numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other family members and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.
Johnnie was preceded in death by her husband, George William, and several family members: her father, Delbert Hubert Haynes; her mother, Mary Frances Haynes (nee Durbin); her sisters, Anna Mae Norris, Nora Louise Collins, and Wilma Jean Tagert; and her brothers, George William Haynes, Hubert Issum Haynes, and James Melvin Haynes.
A graveside service will take place on February 25, 2026, at Hughes Chapel Cemetery in Union, Kentucky at 10:00 AM. Johnnie will be remembered as a loving sister and a friend to many, cherished for her unwavering spirit and passion for life.
