Mary Colwell, 91, of Harrison, Ohio, passed away on September 10, 2026 at Shawneespring Skilled Nursing Facility surrounded by family. Mary was born in Kentucky on September 1, 1935, to Louise (Spurlock) and Alfred Daniels. She married Ben Colwell on November 24, 1951; they were married 46 years at the time of his passing in 1997 she remained devoted to him until the end. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She touched the lives of many with her kindness. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her loved ones and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband Ben Colwell and her children Pauline Thacker, Ronnie Colwell, Suel Colwell, Elmer Mitchell, Willie Colwell, and Geneva Reising. She is also preceded in death by her brothers Garfield, Olaf "Doed" and Amos, her sisters Ruth "Bootsie", Nancy, Ruby, and Rhodie as well as her parents Louise and Alfred Daniels, her grandchildren Heather, Harold, and Ronnie, and special friend Aileen Thomas.
Mary is survived by her children Kelly (Lois) Colwell (Harrison, OH), Pokey (Junior) Daniels (Bethel, OH), Burchell [Kathy] Colwell (Hamilton, OH), Joanne (Cliff) Jewell (Hamilton, OH), Robert Colwell (Cincinnati, OH), Charlie [Linda "Boo"] Colwell (Harrison, OH), Charlotte (David) Baker (Muncie, IN), Harold [Jettie] Colwell (Austin, IN), Jerry [Pam] Colwell (Harrison, OH), Ray [Valerie] Couch (Yerkes, KY), and Troy [Rosanne] Couch (Busy, KY). Mary is also survived by her sister Tina [Gerald] Dunaway, 35 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, 26 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of special friends.
A life beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.
Funeral ceremony will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at 11:30 am with visitation starting at 10:00 am. Burial will take at St. Joseph Old Cemetery.
