Mark Joseph Rothdiener, a devoted family man and respected air traffic controller known for his exceptional skill in landing planes under challenging conditions, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, in Toledo, Ohio. Born on October 20, 1958, in New Hartford, New York, Mark’s life was marked not only by professional excellence but by a warm, unifying presence deeply cherished by all who knew him.
Throughout his career, Mark earned recognition and admiration for his calm and precise handling of difficult situations in the skies. However, it was his role beyond work—as the glue of his family and community—that truly defined him. Whether volunteering with the Boy Scouts, serving as treasurer at the Boone County Arboretum, or engaging enthusiastically with NASCAR, Mark's dedication to helping others was unwavering. He was the man who made everything happen, always a peacekeeper who brought harmony and joy wherever he went.
Mark possessed a lively spirit and a wonderful sense of humor, known for ending every conversation with laughter, bringing lightness even in the most serious moments. His love for life was reflected in his hobbies and interests. An ardent fan of the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres, he found excitement in NASCAR races, enjoyed cruising adventures, and delighted in cooking, particularly German cuisine, often spicing things up with the hottest hot peppers he could find.
Above all, Mark’s proudest accomplishment was his family. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Beth Rothdiener (nee Lawrence); his father, Donald Rothdiener; daughter, Aleigha (Tony) Rhoads; son, Travis Rothdiener; brothers, Tom (Linda) Rothdiener and Eric (Gayla) Rothdiener; mother-in-law, Jacqueline Lawrence, sisters-and brother-in-law, Michelle Rothdiener, Kirsten (Jimmy) McCory and Mark (Susan) Lawrence; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Melvina Rothdiener (nee Kery), brother, Donald Rothdiener, father-in-law David Lawrence and sister-in-law Michele Lawrence.
Mark’s boundless generosity, steady wisdom, and the vital role he played in keeping his family connected have left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know him. His presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered as a source of strength, laughter, and unwavering support.
Visitation will be held on June 10, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northern Kentucky, located at 4350 Dixie Hwy, Erlanger, KY 41018.
