Judy Mae Butcher, a beloved member of her family and community, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, in Edgewood, Kentucky, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 4, 1953, in Covington, Kentucky, Judy led a life filled with laughter and love, creating cherished memories with those around her.
Judy had a distinguished career, retiring from Duke Energy where she served as a control operator. Subsequently, she dedicated her time and efforts to the Burlington Fire Department as an EMT, making a significant impact on the lives of many in her community.
In her personal life, Judy was well known for her unique “Judy-isms,” a collection of sayings that brought joy and laughter to everyone who knew her. She was married to her devoted husband, Michael Butcher, on December 26, 1970. Together, they raised a family that became the center of her universe, and she took great pride in her role as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Judy enjoyed a variety of hobbies throughout her life. She found joy in riding motorcycles and taking trips in her cherished 1999 Corvette. Her adventurous spirit also led her to indulge in traveling, crafting, and engaging her mind with Sudoku and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Butcher; her sons, Christopher (Ruby) Butcher and Joshua (Jami) Butcher; her cherished grandchildren, Tyler (Catherine) Christian, Samantha (Tim) Giovenetti, Olivia, Bryce, Aly, and Milee Butcher; her sisters, Sheila (Harry Earl) Utley, Sandy (Charlie) Courtney, and Debbie (Pete) Mitchell; as well as a host of other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Judy was preceded in death by her father, Fred Mac Garland; her mother, Betty June Garland (nee Wilson); and her brother, Timothy Fred Garland.
A visitation will be held July 23, 2025, from 12pm - 2pm followed by a service at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4350 Dixie Hwy. Erlanger, Kentucky. Burial will follow at Burlington Cemetery. She will be remembered not only for her accomplishments and interests but also for her unwavering love for her family and friends.
