Josephine Owens, a kind, loving, and compassionate soul, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, in Edgewood, Kentucky. Born on September 19, 1949, in Carmel, Indiana, Josephine dedicated over 27 years of her life as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at St. Luke and St. Elizabeth Hospitals, specializing in mental health. Her unwavering commitment to caring for others not only touched countless lives but also inspired her granddaughter to pursue a career in the mental health field.

Josephine's love story began on a magical New Year's Eve in 1970, when she met the love of her life, George Owens. Their bond blossomed and thrived over the span of 52 beautiful years together, showcasing a partnership that was built on love, respect, and shared memories. Together, they created a warm and nurturing home, where family was always the center of their universe. Josephine's proudest accomplishment was her family, who she cherished deeply.

Family trips to the Smoky Mountains were among her most treasured memories, where laughter echoed through the trees and the beauty of nature enveloped them. Josephine had a zest for life that shone through in her hobbies. She loved to play solitaire on her phone, hunt for treasures at yard sales, and whether it was shoes, purses, or gold, she found joy in every discovery. Additionally, Josephine enjoyed catfishing, watching hummingbirds in her yard, and was known for her incredible cooking, which embodied a country heart and brought comfort to her loved ones. She had an affection for Bigfoot and a special place in her heart for the King of Rock, Elvis.

Josephine leaves behind her beloved husband George; her daughter Kimberly (Allen) Mullins; grandchildren Jessica (Phillip) and Nathan (Hannah); and great-grandchildren Kielee, Parker, Beau, Maci, and Lily. She is also survived by her brothers, Roger Wolfe and Bill (Marti) Wolfe, along with a host of other family members and friends who adored her.

Preceding her in death are her mother, Ida Wolfe (nee Barger); father, Nicholas Wolfe; brothers, Carroll, Ronald, and Kenny Wolfe; and sister, Geraldine Wolfe. Josephine’s spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who loved her, and her legacy of kindness and compassion will remain an enduring testament to a life well-lived. She will be deeply missed yet lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
