It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William Joseph "Joe" Schmitz, age 62, of Cincinnati, Ohio, who left us on Sunday, June 22, 2025. Born in Cincinnati, Joe was the cherished son of William and Clara Schmitz (nee Cummings).
Joe was preceded in death by his father, William "Bill" Schmitz, and his mother, Clara "Sue" Schmitz. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 41 years, Celeste Virginia Schmitz (nee Metz), their daughter, Madison Schmitz, son, Adam Schmitz, brother, David (Lance) Schmitz, sister, Kristin (Mark) Lankford, grandchild, Tristan Griffin; and Joe's in laws Loretta Metz (Mom), Connie (Stuart) Cohen, Clarissa McDermott, Eric (Tammy) Metz and many nieces and nephews. Additionally, he leaves behind his best friend, Bill Grigsby, along with numerous family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Joe's life was marked by his commitment to family and community. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and served as Scout Master for Troop 828, instilling values of leadership and service in young people. A true music aficionado, he enjoyed curating a vast collection of records and CDs, sharing his passion for music with those around him. Joe was honored to be a Kentucky Colonel and was known affectionately as "Superman" during his time at Procter & Gamble, where he made many lasting connections.
As a grandfather, Joe was lovingly known as Pop-Pop to his grandson, Tristan, and found immense joy in spending time with children, nurturing their curiosity and imagination. He believed that everyone was significant and had something valuable to contribute.
In loving memory of Joe, contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association. A private service will take place at the convenience of the family.
