JoAnn Virginia (nee Applegate) Eckel, Age 83 passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday January 22, 2026. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on May 22nd 1942 to Freeman and Marie nee Nagel) Applegate.

Beloved wife of the late Gerald "Jerry" Eckel and granddaughter Faith Hingsbergen.

Loving mother of Sheila (Chris Patton, Shelly (Marc)Hingsbergen and Sherry (Martin) Hausfeld. Grandmother of Mandi (Brandon) Brewer, Krissy (Sean) Dowers, Corey Hausfeld, Ayden Hingsbergen. Great Grandmother of Layla, Lydia, Mila, Levi, Jordan, and Haley Joey).

Dear sister of the late Robert (Ruth) Applegate, Florence "Sis" Applegate, David (Helen) Applegate, Ruth (Scotty) Wainscott, Marge Hines, Mary (Melvin) Pfirman, Eileen (Harry "Dutch") Daugherty and Carol (Jack) Engel and Daughter in-Law of the late Lawrence and Louise Eckel and Sister in-law of Pam Eckel.

Also survived by Brother in-laws and Sister in-laws - Lawerence "Whitey" (Cindy) Eckel, Judy Heck, Beverly Tenkman, Karen (Hank) Walters, Floyd Hines and many Nieces and Nephews.

A visitation will be held Sunday, February 8th from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, located at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3300 Parkcrest Lane, Cincinnati OH, 45211. Burial will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026 at 10:00 AM, located at Bridgetown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Joe Nuxhall Miracle League: The Hope Center, 4850 Groh Lane, Fairfield OH, 45014 and to St. Jude Children's, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
