Jerry Gene Blazer, age 74, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 5, 2026. He was born on June 11, 1951, in Covington, Kentucky, to Harlin and Marion Blazer (née Orne).
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Harlin and Marion Blazer, and siblings Louise Bickers and a baby brother. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 52 years, Debbie Sue Blazer (née Sherman); children Dani Pyles and Robert Blazer; sister Sue Blazer; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
A proud veteran, Jerry served four years in the Air Force, working as a police officer before being stationed in Vietnam. Following his military service, he served as a Newport police officer for three and a half years before relocating to Cincinnati, where he completed his career on January 14, 2014.
Jerry was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His passions included grilling—no matter the weather—even during snowstorms. He was an avid fan of John Wayne and a dedicated train collector. Time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brought him great joy. Jerry also had a deep love for his dogs and cat. He enjoyed traveling to Gatlinburg and had a special fondness for Christmas, always ensuring the tree was up by Thanksgiving.
In memory of Jerry, contributions may be made to Children’s Hospital, the American Lung Association, or the Alzheimer’s Association. A funeral ceremony will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, with visitation on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions – West Side Chapel, located at 3300 Parkcrest Lane, Cincinnati, Ohio 45211.
