Listen to Obituary

Jane R. Ashford (nee Land) 94, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025. Born on Christmas Day in 1930 in Hustonville, Kentucky. Jane brought warmth, light, and love to everyone who knew her.

Jane was the beloved wife of the late David Arthur (Art) Ashford, who passed away in 1957. Though their time together was brief, she carried his memory in her heart always.

Above all else, Jane was devoted to her family. She was the proud and loving mother of Deborah Ashford and Jacqueline (Allen) Boerger and a deeply cherished grandmother to Jessica (Lawrence) Thompson and Joshua (Megan) Cole. She was also a great-grandmother to Lawrence Thompson and the late Angel Cole.

Jane had a special gift for making her grandchildren feel seen, celebrated, and unconditionally loved — her presence was a source of joy and comfort in their lives.

She was the dear sister of Geraldine Carlton and Albert (Buck) Land, and was preceded in death by her siblings Shirley Stephens, Betty Phipps, and Thomas Land.

Jane cherished her family deeply, and the bonds she shared with her siblings were a meaningful part of her life.Jane was full of energy and spirit. She loved to garden and found peace in nurturing beauty from the earth. She brought that same care and attention to her relationships — always ready with a kind word, a listening ear, or a helping hand.

Jane leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and grace that will live on through her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A private service to celebrate her life will be held on September 19, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at Arlington Memorial Gardens.
