James Langley Perry, a man whose life was marked by service, dedication, and a warm yet reserved spirit, passed away on March 29, 2026, in Edgewood, Kentucky. Born on October 22, 1949, in Washington, DC, James, known affectionately as Jim, lived a life rich in experiences, grounded by a steady routine and an enduring joviality that touched all who knew him.

Jim was a Marine veteran who served honorably during the Vietnam War at Camp LeJeune. His commitment to duty extended beyond his military service, having spent time working at the naval academy. Following his military service, he channeled his dedication and discipline into the marketing industry, where he worked with distinction in French Lick, Indiana. His educational foundation was solidified with a Bachelor's degree in business and marketing, a testament to his determination to build a meaningful and productive professional life.

A man of few words, Jim found comfort and joy in the familiar rhythms of his daily life. His mornings began promptly at 5:30 a.m., often with a simple pleasure: a milk and plain donut from Emerson's or a White Castle sausage and egg sandwich. This was followed by grocery shopping and a refreshing nap before continuing with his day's activities. Though reserved, Jim's laugh was infectious and spirited—so much so that it resulted in getting kicked out of the library more than once, revealing a playful side beneath his otherwise composed exterior.

Beyond his work and routines, Jim cherished leisure in golf and football, both watching and playing, which brought him relaxation and enjoyment. Those who were fortunate to witness his jovial spirit remember a man whose good humor and warmth brightened their lives.

Jim was deeply fond of his family, with whom he shared a unique bond. He lived with his Uncle Bucky and Aunt Audrey for many years during his childhood. He and his siblings lovingly called each other "Mickey Mouse," a nickname rooted in childhood memories of their father, a testament to the enduring closeness they celebrated throughout their lives. While James is preceded in death by his mother, Jean Perry (nee Byrd); his father, James Perry; and siblings Penny, Arthur, Elizabeth, and Katina, his legacy continues through his surviving loved ones.

He leaves behind his devoted partner, Mary Terrie Perry; his daughter, Jennifer (Eric) Kelly; and beloved grandchildren, Brooke Kelly, Chase Kelly, and Audrey Kelly. Jim is also survived by his siblings Debbie, Earl, and Elmer, along with a host of other family members and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts.

Jim Perry felt he had a good life, one marked by loyalty, kindness, and a likeability that endeared him to all who crossed his path. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will endure in the stories shared and the laughter remembered. He rests now, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength and enduring love.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
