James Patrick McSwiney

James Patrick McSwiney, age 28, of Union, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. Born February 25, 1997, in Covington, Kentucky, he was the beloved son of Lawrence E. and Susan D. McSwiney (née Gripshover).

James lived his life with a heart wide open. He was the person who would drop everything to help someone in need — no matter how big or small the task. His love for others was unconditional, and the kindness he showed made him unforgettable to everyone lucky enough to know him.

He had a special love for the outdoors — fishing, hunting, and simply being in nature brought him peace and happiness. James also found great pride in his work as a skilled concrete tradesman, pouring his dedication and craftsmanship into every project he touched. But his greatest joy came from the moments he spent with his family and friends, especially his niece and nephews, who lit up his world.

He is survived by his loving parents, Lawrence and Susan McSwiney; his sister, Stephanie S. (Nick) Tewes; his brother, Nicholas R. (Katelin) McSwiney; his nephews, Turner E. Tewes, Walker J. Tewes, and Aidan R. McSwiney; and his niece, Averie L. McSwiney. He also leaves behind his loyal dog, Cyrus, along with countless friends and extended family who will miss his big heart, easy smile, and the way he made every room feel lighter just by being in it.

A memorial service to celebrate James’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 10, 2025, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM,at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions – Northern Kentucky Chapel (4350 Dixie Highway, Erlanger, Kentucky 41018).
