Hazel M. Southard, age 83, of Cincinnati, Ohio, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. Born on March 29, 1943, in Culpeper, Virginia, she was the beloved daughter of Lee and Mary Creel (née Leake).
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Creel and Mary Leake; her husband William "Bill" Southard; her son, Rocky Southard; and her daughters, Judy Southard and Janet Southard. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Steve Southard (Evelyn); her daughter, Peggy Alessandro (Tony); as well as 12 grandchildren and 31 great- and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many other cherished family members and friends.
In her youth, Hazel was a proud cheerleader. She enjoyed watching WWE "wrasslin" and the television show Gunsmoke. Hazel found great joy in K-love music and had a deep love for her dogs. She treasured the comfort of her own home throughout her life.
A funeral ceremony to honor Hazel’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions – West Side Chapel, located at 3300 Parkcrest Lane, Cincinnati, Ohio 45211.
Friends and family are invited to share memories and leave messages for Hazel’s loved ones through the guestbook. Her kindness and spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
