Listen to Obituary

Grant Patrick May, age 38, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Born in Cincinnati on October 5, 1987, Grant was the beloved son of Gregory D. and Patricia A. May (née Wolfer).

He was preceded in death by his father, Gregory D. May, and his brother, Justin G. May. Grant is lovingly remembered by his mother, Patricia May; his partner, Jennifer Freese; his aunts Donna (Louis) Bauer and Marilyn (Paul) Suthern; cousins Julie and Jason Bauer, and Andrew and Charlie Suthern and Paulette Garbutt; Thomas Garbutt; and many other family members and friends.

Grant had a way of leaving an impression on everyone he met. He lived with an incredible sense of passion and loyalty, always ready to drop everything to help a friend in need. He had a special gift for connection, maintaining lifelong friendships while constantly welcoming new people into his circle. Above all, he was a devoted partner of 11 years, grounding his life in a loyal love that was as bright as his personality.

A true PC gaming enthusiast, Grant immersed himself in worlds like RimWorld, Dune, Rust, and Valheim, and battled in games such as Arc Raiders, 7 Days to Die, and ARK: Survival Evolved. Whether in person or online, he had a vibrant presence that was impossible to miss—he simply stood out in the best way possible.

Grant found great joy in the details of life, from his deep passion for building computers and collecting custom keyboards and keycaps to the simple peace of disc golf. He loved the freedom of driving, finding quiet beauty in long drives along the back roads. He was also a devoted 'ferret dad' to Catsnake, Carpet Shark, Tiny, Sid, Fungus Amongus, Roo, and Lasher. He knew exactly how to bring out their playful side, always finding ways to make them dook and war dance their hearts out.

Grant held a deep love for his friends and family, cherishing them all deeply. Despite the battles and hardships of life, he never lost his love for those around him. In every action he took, he truly considered the hearts of those who loved him.

Grant was also a devoted pet parent to his ferrets, Tiny, Catsnake, Carpet Shark, and Sid.
