Ginny Knochelmann, (nee Rohan), age 88, of Ludlow, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025. She was born in Covington, Kentucky on April 8, 1937 to Thomas and Anna Elizabeth Rohan (nee Maloney.
When she was just 8 years old, Ginny’s mom suffered a stroke when leaving her 24 year old daughter’s funeral. This began Ginny’s life of caring for others through kindness, compassion, and purpose. She saw the fragility of life and the needs of others and this shaped her life. She helped care for her mother at such a young age while finishing elementary school at St. Boniface in Ludlow, and Notre Dame Academy in Covington. This continued until her mother’s passing in 1969.
Her care and compassion towards others continued throughout her life always making sure that her family, community members, her friends, and especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were taken care of.
Ginny was a devout Catholic and lived her life daily through her faith. She was an active member in St. Mary’s Altar society and served on the bereavement committee, helping others in their time of loss. She believed in the power of prayer fiercely, forgave easily, and loved deeply. Married for 66 years this past Halloween, her husband, Dave, was her best friend and their devotion to each other was the greatest gift for all to see. She was a stay at home mother during her children’s formative years and devoted all her time and energy into raising her 6 children.
When grandchildren came along, her love expanded beyond measure, caring for them and loving them. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of their life and her loss has been felt deeply by them all.
We can measure her life by dates; birth, graduations, occupations, marriage, birth of children, and death, but those are just statistics. A person’s life, Virginia Lee Rohan Knochelmann’s life, is the tally of the positive differences left behind and hers are immeasurable.
Mourning her loss deeply she leaves behind her loving and devoted husband David of 66 years, her children Ann (the late Jim) Donnermeyer, Amy (Jim) Ryan, David (April) Knochelmann, Alice(Kevin) Akin, Donald (Tammy) Knochelmann, and Anita (Chip) Mink. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Andrew, Jacob, Zachary, Brendan, Rachel (Connor), Adam, Katelyn, Kevin, Bradley, Jared, Emily (Matthew), Chad (Sarah) and the late Alex. And her great grandchildren Lotus, Lyric, Lumin, Lillie, Stella, Avie, Harper and Vada. And many nieces and nephews who were very dear to her. She was proceeded in death by her parents Thomas and Anna (Maloney) Rohan and siblings Cecily(Glenna), Velara, Kathleen, James, Cerena, Eileen, Thomas, and Harry.
