Fred Rouse, Sr., born on August 14, 1931, in Cincinnati, Ohio, peacefully passed away on March 20, 2026, in Elsmere, Kentucky. A Korean War veteran and devoted lifetime member of the VFW, as well as a proud member of the American Legion Post 20, Fred's dedication to his country was a defining aspect of his life.
A simple guy by nature, Fred was actively working as a truck driver until he was nearly 80 years old, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment that earned him respect from all who knew him. He cherished the outdoors, especially his time fishing, and in his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, pursuits that brought him great joy and a sense of peace.
Fred’s life was enriched by the love and company of his family. He is survived by his sons, Fred (Kim Swinford) Rouse, Jr., and Kenneth (Marla) Rouse. He took great pride in his grandchildren, Stefanie and Shanna, and was a beloved great-grandfather to Lindsay, Lauren, Dylan, Madison, along with numerous other great-grandchildren. Fred is also remembered fondly by his brothers, Victor Rouse, Bud Rouse, and David Rouse, as well as a host of other family members and friends who hold his memory dear.
Fred was preceded in death by his father, Fred Rouse; his mother, Lulu Rouse (nee Martin); his wife, Orene Rouse (nee Coots); his son, Timothy Allen Rouse; and numerous siblings.
A visitation will be held on March 27, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Northern Kentucky, located at 4350 Dixie Hwy, Erlanger, KY 41018. Following this, a graveside service will take place at Hopeful Lutheran Cemetery, 6430 Hopeful Church Road, Florence, KY 41042, at 12:45 p.m.
Fred Rouse, Sr.'s life was marked by steadfast dedication—to his family, his work, and his nation. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, quiet strength, and love for the simple pleasures of life. Those who knew him will remember a man whose life was lived with integrity and humility. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
