Duane Holland Dye, a devoted Navy veteran, loving family man, and skilled craftsman, passed away on April 28, 2026, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born on October 3, 1974, in San Diego, California, Duane lived a life defined by dedication, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to his country and loved ones.

Duane earned a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, demonstrating an early drive to serve and protect. His time in the Navy as a gunnersmate sent him to challenging deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan, experiences through which he served with honor and valor. He was deeply proud of his military service and his country, carrying the lessons of duty and perseverance into every aspect of his life.

Known for his loving and caring nature, Duane was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. His generosity and warmth were a beacon to family, friends, and all who knew him. He possessed a remarkable ability to excel at any endeavor he set his mind to, whether tackling complex DIY projects or offering support and comfort to those around him.

Duane took great pride in his home and garage, treasures reflecting his considerable talent and passion for woodworking and hands-on craftsmanship. Outside of his workshop, he indulged in the freedom of riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, marveled in the open road while driving his Jeep and truck, and found joy in the timeless rhythms of 70's rock and roll music, which fueled many of his moments of relaxation and inspiration.

He is survived by his devoted father, Robert Eugene Sturgeon; mother, Dorthea Jean Sturgeon (nee Jenkins); sisters Jeannette M. James and Charity L. Von Bartheld; beloved nieces Amber (Tyler), Kyleen (Chris), Jillian, Alexis; nephews Guy; a cherished group of great-nieces and great-nephews including Melanie, Gavin, Gracelyn, Joseph, Delphia, Josiah, and Jasper; and daughters Autumn and Katie. Duane also shared a special bond with his best friend, Joshua Beasley, alongside many other family members and friends who will forever hold his memory close.

Duane Holland Dye’s life was a testament to the power of kindness, dedication, and resilience. His contributions as a veteran, his craftsmanship, and his loving presence within his family and community have left an indelible mark. Though he has passed from this world, the legacy of his spirit, generosity, and steadfast devotion endures in the hearts of all who knew him. His memory remains a shining example of a life well-lived and a soul deeply cared for.
