Donna Jean Cobb, née Valade, a woman whose life was marked by adventurous spirit, unwavering faith, and a selfless heart, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026, in Florence, Kentucky. Born on October 8, 1937, in Ecorse, Michigan, Donna's journey through life was one enriched not only by the places she traveled and the hobbies she embraced but also by the profound love she gave to those around her.
Donna lived with a unique blend of sass and humility, which endeared her to many. She had a faithful belief system that guided her actions and a giving nature that manifested in both small acts of kindness and larger commitments. Among her passions were her beloved dogs, long hours spent traveling to discover new horizons, the delicate art of embroidery, cycling through the countryside, rooting on the Detroit Tigers, an avid reader, loading exorbitant amounts of books to her Kindle, and crafting blankets to provide comfort to the homeless. Each of these interests reflected her vibrant and caring personality.
She was a beloved daughter to the late Eva Beighley (nee Mink) and Vincent Valade, who laid the foundation of the values she carried throughout her life. Donna also remembered her brothers, Robert and Marvin Valade, who preceded her in death.
Surviving Donna is her devoted daughter, Gwendolyn Marilyn (Dennis Lutz) Fall. Donna’s legacy continues through her treasured grandchildren, Lisa Vittitoe and Paul (Jenna) Ackerman. Her love and influence extend tenderly into the lives of her great-grandchildren, Peyton and Elizabeth Vittitoe. Donna also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Bonnie Valade, and a broad circle of family members and friends who were fortunate enough to know her warmth, generosity, and vibrant personality.
Donna's life was a testament to adventure and service, to faith lived humbly and fiercely, and to love given freely. Her memory will forever inspire those who knew her to approach life with the same blend of courage, kindness, and joy that she exemplified every day. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing this remarkable woman.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock, Michigan at a later date.
