Audrey Polazzo Scholes

Audrey Polazzo Scholes, age 84, of Union, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026. Born on January 24, 1942, in Escanaba, Michigan, she was the cherished daughter of Peter and Mary Polazzo (nee Cabianca).

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Mary Polazzo. She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 63 years, Dr. Gene W. Scholes; her children, Mary Michelle Birrell and her husband Dr. Stephen, Gene W. Scholes Jr. and his wife Kathleen, and Lisa Marie Poirier and her husband Phil; as well as her grandchildren Corrine Elizabeth Langman and her husband Derek, Paul Poirier, Jack Poirier and his wife Randa, Grace & Faith Poirier, step-grandsons Nick Birrell and Lachland Birrell; and great-grandchildren Elijah Langman, Charlie Langman, and Odeya Mae Poirier. She was also dearly loved by all her family members and friends who held her close to their hearts.

Audrey found great joy in her family, treasuring time spent with her children and grandchildren. She delighted in knitting, sewing, cooking, shopping, and playing bridge with her friends. Hosting gatherings for family and friends was one of her greatest pleasures. Her Italian heritage and her Catholic faith defined her life, as well her love for her husband.
