Alois Heinrich Prautsch

Alois Heinrich Prautsch, lovingly known to many as Al, passed away peacefully at home in Erlanger, Kentucky, on August 9, 2026, at the age of 93. Al was born on October 31, 1932, in Doppitz, Czechoslovakia, and over nearly a century, built a life defined by dedication to his family, the work of his hands, and the stories he shared.

Al’s life journey was marked by hard work and resilience. He honed his skills in construction and interior design, leaving his mark on numerous landmarks throughout his travels—each a silent testament to his craftsmanship and ingenuity. His handiwork touched countless lives, and his pride in these endeavors was matched only by his devotion to those he loved.

Al was gifted with a spirit for storytelling and humor. Whether through sharing tales of his youth, telling jokes to brighten a room, or simply listening closely to others' stories, he brought warmth and laughter wherever he went. Those who knew him remember his keen ability to fix almost anything and his passion for sharing both skills and stories with family and friends.

A man deeply connected to the outdoors, Al’s hobbies ranged from beekeeping and gardening to fishing and tending lovingly to his property. Time spent outdoors brought him great joy, and in his younger years, he delighted in drawing and traveling, always seeking new ways to experience the world’s beauty.

Above all, Al counted his family as his proudest accomplishment. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Anna; his children, Matt, Rob (Holly), Amy (Curtis), Tina (Danny), Karl (Jess) and Annie (Ken); 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Their lives were enriched by the steadfast love, wisdom, and humor that Al offered so freely.

He is preceded in death by his father, Karl Prautsch; his mother, Anna Prautsch; and his brothers, Karl and Heinz Prautsch. Al cherished his roots and honored the memories of those who went before him, carrying their influence throughout his remarkable life.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northern Kentucky, 4350 Dixie Hwy, Erlanger, KY 41018. A memorial service will follow at the same location beginning at 7:00 PM.

Al’s legacy will live on in the stories retold around family tables, in the laughter and kindness of those who knew him, and in the buildings and gardens shaped by his devoted hands. His life was a tapestry of dedication and love, and he will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
