Paul owned Schmitt’s Service, a gas station and wrecker business, and hauled water. He was also a truck driver for Signal Delivery and Fasig Co. After retiring, he could be found on a tractor somewhere on his beautiful farm. He owned several vintage cars and enjoyed going to cruise-ins.
Paul is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Veronica Schoborg Schmitt, and his brother Robert Schmitt.
He leaves behind four devoted children, Steve Schmitt, Monica (Terry) Rahe, Paula Schmitt, and Tim Schmitt. He also leaves behind four loving granddaughters, Melissa (Chris) Jeffries, Janna (Mike) Robinson, Rebecca (Jake) Deason, and Alexandra Schmitt, and five great-grandchildren, Reid, Abigail, Caroline, Rhett, and Connor. Also, a sister, Rosemary Celichowski, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation is Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 10am to noon at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Independence, KY followed by a memorial Mass at noon.
Memorials may be sent to St. Cecilia Church Building Fund, 5313 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. Newcomer Funeral Home, Erlanger is in charge of arrangements.
