In Memory Of
John H. Thumann
1941 - 2022

John H. Thumann, age 81, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away on November 20, 2022 after a determined 4.5 year battle with a brain cancer that came calling with the worst of odds. Through his very last days he remained resolute and committed to his Catholic faith and his devoted family while under their care at his home. To no one’s surprise, he remained ever positive and always kind to all those around him. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 7, 1941 to parents Ervin and Lillian Thumann (nee Muiter). John is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Terri Thumann (nee Niehaus); loving children, Matthew Thumann (Amy), Mark Thumann , Molly (Mike) Bischoff and Monica (Matthew) Linnell; cherished grandchildren, Erin, Ellie and Will Thumann, Ruby, Johnny and Lucy Bischoff, Alaina, Luke and August Linnell; dear brother, Steve (Cindy) Thumann; and a large extended number of family members and very close friends that reach back decades.

John proudly served his country in the US Army on the DMZ in Korea with the 2nd CAV. obtaining the rank of Second Lieutenant. He was a graduate of St. Xavier High School, and earned both his undergraduate and Masters at his beloved Xavier University. His career in finance led him from Arthur Anderson to eventually some interesting travels with Armco International in Middletown. He spent his later career as a controller with Indiana Glass in Blue Ash. After retiring in 2008 John and his wife followed their children to many more adventures in Arizona before falling ill in 2018. Through it all he was a devoted volunteer with St. Vincent de Paul and the Andre House in Phoenix, Arizona. In John's free time he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, golfing, hunting, fishing, betting the horse races and always staying active.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 from 9:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am all at St. Columban Catholic Church, 894 Oakland Road, Loveland, Ohio 45140. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in John's name to St. Vincent de Paul, 894 Oakland Road, Loveland, Ohio 45140 or Right to Life Cincinnati, 1802 W. Galbraith Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45239.
