In Memory Of
Charles Benjamin Spriggs
1927 - 2022

Charles Benjamin Spriggs was born to Mary Lee England and Charles Spriggs on February 19, 1927 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. His mother died during the birth of his brother, Arthur. Arthur died at age two and his father died when Charles was five years old. His great aunt, Bessie Smith, accepted the responsibility of raising him and they moved to Scottsboro, Alabama where he attended school. As a teenager, he enjoyed playing basketball. Later they moved to Union, Kentucky and Charles joined the Army Air Corp in October 1945. After his time in the military, he went back to Scottsboro and married Selena Elizabeth Jordan in May 1948 and moved back to Kentucky in 1952. Together they had and raised two loving daughters, Jennifer and Veronica.

Charles attended Ohio Mechanics Institute and the University of Cincinnati where he majored in mathematics. He worked as a chemical engineer and later at Trans World Airlines, but his passion was acquiring properties and building houses throughout the community. He had a strong work ethic and always urged his daughters to "reach for the stars". Charles was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Elsmere and served as treasurer and a trustee board member for many years.

He leaves to mourn: his daughters, Jennifer Spriggs, and Veronica (Stephen) Davis; four grandchildren, Tammy (Charles) Buck, Stephen (Meagan) Davis II, Selena (Larry) Collins, and Alexandra (Benjamin) Johnston; seventeen great-grandchildren, Adam, Jasmine, Jonathan, Charles, Stephen III, Jaidyn, Meliah, Mya, Chloe, Nastacia, Brianna, Robert II, Mia, Tyee, London, Lyric, Legend; and 8 great-great-grandchildren, Kristen, Brooklyn, Makiyah, Aaliyah, Maliyah, Leaana, Arriah, and Braylen; and a host of other family members and friends.

Funeral Ceremony will be 10:00 am Monday, August 15, 2022 with a visitation from 9:00 am - 10:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Elsmere, 1007 Garvey Avenue, Elsmere, Kentucky 41018. Entombment will follow at 12:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 3227 Dixie Highway, Erlanger, Kentucky 41018
