He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Shawna Slagle, and siblings, Sammy Ellison, Bea Daley, Patti Horn and Billy Ellison. Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Sherry Ellison (nee Sharp); daughters, Tosha (Jonnell) Jerry and Amber (Nicholas Poulin) Ellison; grandchildren, Cody (Kaitlin) Slagle, Tala Clausen, Ceaira and Breanna Jerry, Joseph and Maximus Poulin; great-grandchildren, Paisley and Zechariah Slagle; siblings, Sherrie (the late Dale) Krauser, Susan Pratchard and Mike (the late Glenna) Ellison; in-laws, Leonard (Vena) Daley and Lonnie Horn; and a host of other family members and friends.
Joe was a devoted husband and father, a proud papal, brother and uncle. He was a hard worker who still found time to help others when they needed him the most.
In loving memory of Joe, contributions may be made to the Cincinnati VA at va.gov. A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm with a memorial service to follow at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - West Side Chapel, 3300 Parkcrest Lane, Cincinnati, Ohio 45211. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Old Cemetery, 3819 W 8th St, Cincinnati, OH 45205.
