McCane, Douglas E. "Nurse Doug" age 60, was a lifetime resident of Colerain Township, Ohio. Nurse Doug lost his battle of genetic heart disease at home on Saturday, April 21, 2018. He was born in Fort Thomas, Kentucky on May 29, 1957 to Donald E. and Gladys N. McCane (nee Tucker).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald E. and Gladys N. McCane; brother, Donald E. McCane Jr. Douglas is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Bennie M. McCane (nee Seabolt); daughter, Sharla Whitson (McCane); son, Rocky (Erin) McCane II; step-mother, Nita McCane; sisters, Cathy (Jerry) McDonald, Dottie (Michael) Dunaway, Terrie McCane, and Suellen (Dan) Brafford; step-brother, Michael (Amy) Barnhart; loving grandfather of 7 children and 1 great-granddaughter; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Nurse Doug achieved his BSN and his dream job of caring for the Veterans at the VA Hospital his last 2 years of being able to work.

In lieu of flowers, Nurse Doug's request is that you provide a homeless Veteran or another person a hot meal. Visitation will be 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Newcomer Northwest Chapel, 7830 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231 followed by a Funeral Ceremony at 7:00 pm. Nurse Doug requests that his remains be spread under the Northern Lights in Alaska.
