Akiko Kusakabe "Aki" Goens
1928 - 2017

Akiko "Aki" Kusakabe Goens was born in Tokyo, Japan on August 11, 1928. She entered Heaven’s gates on December 9, 2017. Akiko arrived to The United States as one of the first World War II brides in Cincinnati. Akiko was an excellent cook/baker and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. As well as sewing, knitting and crocheting were among a few of her many talents.

Aki was preceded in death by her loving husband 25 years ago, Robert W. Goens, Jr. Aki is survived by her son Thomas Goens and his wife Theresa, son Edward Goens and his wife Joleen and her daughter Bobbie Goens Schmidt and husband Ken; her daughter-in-law, Sharon Russo(Frank); her seven grandchildren, Emily Goens Bosch(Eric), Todd Goens, Ryan Goens, Nathan Schmidt, Mackenzie Schmidt, Dallas Harris Wiggins (Tim) and Shannon Harris; her four great grandchildren, Jordan Goens, Madison Bosch, Mason Bosch and Henry Wiggins; and many other family members that were very special to her.

Memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 2:00 pm until the time of service at 4:00 pm at Newcomer - West Side Chapel, 3300 Parkcrest Lane, Cincinnati, Ohio 45211.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation, Alzheimer Association- Greater Cincinnati Chapter or Hospice of Cincinnati.
