In Memory Of
Daniel Thomas Dougherty
1934 - 2022

Daniel Thomas Dougherty, age 88, devoted father, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully at his home in Crestview Hills, KY on September 3, 2022 with his daughter by his side.

Daniel was born on May 23, 1934 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Daniel T. and Mary Catherine (Fitzgerald) Dougherty. His father was a chemical engineer and his mother was a homemaker after working in her family floral business in Beaver, PA.

As a boy he loved playing baseball with his friends in Bond Hill and was an avid sports fan his entire life. A graduate of St. Xavier High School class of ’52 and the University of Cincinnati, Daniel was a Korean War era veteran and served with the occupational forces in Japan as a cartographer in the Army Corp of Engineers.

Daniel served as the executive director of Little Miami, Inc. in the 1970s and later worked the majority of his civilian career in city planning. He retired from the Northern Kentucky Area Planning Commission in 1996 and continued to volunteer on the Crestview Hills Zoning Board of Adjustment for many years.

In his retirement, he enjoyed golfing with his friends, gardening, and traveling around the world, especially with family. His Irish heritage was of great importance and one of his favorite trips was to Ireland. He cared deeply for the environment and worked with civic organizations to improve Ault Park and restore the pavilion to the beauty we appreciate today. He loved jazz music and enjoyed seeing it performed by many of the greats during his lifetime. He is best known for his ‘odd’ sense of humor, sending postcards to his friends and family, and for his thoughtfulness towards his loved ones.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Mary Catherine Dougherty, and his dear sisters Mary Joan Stricker and Sara ‘Sally’ Fenske.
Daniel is survived by his beloved children: Thomas Dougherty (Victoria), Anne Bryant (Jay), Joseph Christian (Susan), grandsons John and Grant Christian, dear nieces, nephews, and devoted friends across the country.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday October 9, 2022 from 1 to 4pm at the Lookout Farms Clubhouse: 100 Lookout Farm Dr, Crestview Hills, KY 41017.

In loving memory of Daniel, contributions may be made to Little Miami Conservancy.
