In Memory Of
Sarah Olivia Thomas
1939 - 2022

Sarah Olivia Thomas was born August 31, 1939 in Evergreen, Alabama to the late Alice Salter & Barzell Tate, Sr.

In Sarah’s early years, her family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where she later attended Cutter High School. In her adult years, she began working at Shillito's, raised her four lovely children, and met her late husband, Handsome Thomas. Sarah also worked at Jewish Hospital of Cincinnati in Dietary for over 30 years, where she retired from. Sarah was best known for her funny sense of humor, telling it how it is and no filter in mind. She loved traveling, western movies, and keeping the family grounded. Sarah would make you laugh and cry, all in the same breath. Once you met her, you were no longer a stranger to her.

Sarah is preceded in death by her oldest son, Prince J. Tate; daughter, Regina Tate; grandson, Marjoni Tate, Sr.; granddaughter, Angela Antonia Tate; great-granddaughter, Nai Jaya Ireion Tate. She is survived by her daughter, Marcia Butler; son, Harry Tate; grandson, PJ Thompkins; granddaughters, Tashania Tate, Chiron Tate, Maricha Butler, Ashia Tate, Myeisha Butler, lesha Greene, and Shanice Greene. She was the oldest amongst her surviving sisters, Ernestine Townsend, Mattie Parker; and brother, Barzell Tate, Jr. Sarah leaves behind a host of great grandkids, nieces, and nephews that are all deeply saddened by her passing.

Sarah loved her family and was loved by many. The family wishes to thank everyone for the prayers and continued support.

Funeral Ceremony will be 2:00 pm Sunday, July 24, 2022 with a visitation from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Northwest Chapel, 7830 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231.
