1940 - 2022

Dorothy (Dotty) Joan Olson Garrabrant, age 82, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2022.

A dedicated and outstanding social worker and mental health therapist following a brief career as an English teacher, she earned a Master’s in Social Work, serving the communities in Marshalltown, Iowa and the Cincinnati, Ohio Metropolitan Area. She was active in her church, politics, and her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega. She was a talented cook and sang soprano in the St. James Episcopal Church choir. She and her late husband enjoyed traveling and hosting internationally through the Friendship Force and International Visitors Center. She belonged to the Welsh Society of Greater Cincinnati. She loved animals dearly.

Dotty was born in Eldora, Iowa on May 17, 1940 to Lowell and Alice Olson (nee Clampitt).

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ward Garrabrant; father, Lowell Olson; and mother, Alice Olson.

Dotty is survived by her brother, Richard “Dick” (Antoinette “Toni”) Olson; children, Kimberly Vogt, Johnny Olsa, Aaron (Victoria) Olsa; step-children, Andrew “Andy” (Ellen) Garrabrant, and Hanna Garrabrant Wells Lange; grandchildren, Kyra and Jared Vogt, Jennifer Olsa, Scion Predmore, Gabriel, Aidan, and Lucas Olsa; step-grandchildren, Ian Garrabrant, Elisha May, Dakota, Samantha, and Kalinda Wells, and Olivia Lange; great-grandchildren, Breann and Jackson Vogt; and a host of other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be Sunday, October 16, 2022 at 2:00 PM, at the St. James Episcopal Church, Westwood, 3207 Montana Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45211. Rev. Mary Carson will be presiding.
