Iva Mae Whitis, age 92, of Elsmere, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 surrounded by her family at University of Cincinnati Medical Center after a fall at her home April 28, 2022. She was born in Crab Orchard, Kentucky on September 13, 1929 to the late Virgil and Grace Ellen Smiley (nee Petrey).

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 61 years, James Avery Whitis, siblings, Orine Baker, Syreta Bishop and Edna Higgins and granddaughter, Terri Yuenger. Iva is survived by her beloved children, Carol (the late Jerry) Hall, Larry (Kathy) Whitis, Linda (the late Rick) Delph, Doug Whitis, Patti (Jimmy) Dennis and Juli (Tom) Hale; sister, Evelyn Crawford; 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; bonus son, Frank Duncan; and a host of other family members and friends.

Iva was a faithful member of Elsmere Baptist Church. She was everyone's mother and grandmother, loving them as her own, unconditionally. She was well respected in the community and made an impact on many. Her greatest accomplishment was her family, she loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren more than she could ever express.

In loving memory of Iva, contributions may be made to Elsmere Baptist Church at 250 Garvey Ave. Elsmere, KY 41018. A visitation will be held Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm followed by a service at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Northern Kentucky Chapel, 4350 Dixie Highway, Erlanger, Kentucky 41018.
