In Memory Of
Charles Perry Rice
1925 - 2019

Charles Perry Rice was born on August 17, 1925 in Louisville Kentucky to the late Orestus and Irene Rice (nee Shaffer). Charles moved to Cincinnati at an early age and attended various schools in the Cincinnati Public School District. Following high school, Charles began his career as a government employee holding several jobs, including: postal worker and clerk. However, he was most proud of his service to his country as a member of the Coast Guard and World War II veteran. On March 6, 1946 he received an honorable discharge. Soon after completing his military service, Charles moved to Waukegan, Illinois where he resided until his death.

Charles was loved and lauded for his wit, humor and sometimes fiery personality. All these traits remained with him until his death. Charles enjoyed many activities in his spare time, including: his membership in the Elks, listening to blues music, playing cards and sharing stories with friends and family, but no hobbies brought him more satisfaction than fishing and gardening.

Charles leaves to cherish his memory 14 children: Charlene Taylor, Katherine Campbell, Doris (Chester) Robinson, Barbara Rice, Carolyn Rice, Arlanta Shelley, Valarie Shelley, Justine Shelley, William Harrison, Michael (Denise) Ware, Richard Armstead, Bruce Armstead, Edward Campbell, Jeffery Rice and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by 7 children: Regina Terry, Beverly Ware, Debbra Johnson, Michael Hobbs, William Hobbs, John Campbell, Jr. and George Campbell; 2 brothers: Wallace Rice and Earl Rice and 1 sister: Gloria Rice.

Our Love for you is like the sky, it has no beginning or ending.
