Michael Robert Norman
1964 - 2019

Norman, Michael Robert “Big Mike”, born October 7, 1964, was the first born son of Edith J. Norman. As a child, “Big Mike” was always very quiet and shy, and was always watching over his family. At an early age, he took a liking to football. While attending Eastern Hills Junior High School, he joined their football team as #52. He continued playing football during his high school years at Western Hills. He was known for being dominant on the defense line. Even though he was talented and feared on the field, he was always humble. “Big Mike” never bragged on himself but WE did!

While attending high school, he became a young father to his only son, DeMarcus A. Sherman Sr. This only motivated “Big Mike” to be more of the man his duties required of him. He chose a career with the City of Cincinnati Recreation Department, where he dedicated 36 years of his life. He took pride in his work, and never faltered. No matter how he felt, he would say “I’m good”.

Never a bother, and never a burden, he stood tall on his own. “Big Mike” was a dependable, loving man, whose love knew no limits. He leaves behind his mother, Edith; his siblings, Denise, Asbury and his wife Cynthia and Lamont and his wife Tina; his companion of 26 years, Marjorie L. Wilson; his son DeMarcus Sr.; his two grandchildren, Khamylah and DeMarcus Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family and friends.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 10 am until the time of service at 11am at Newcomer Funeral Home – West Side Chapel, 3300 Parkcrest Lane, Cincinnati, Ohio 45211.
