Calvin Roper was born May 10, 1924 in Grove Hill, Alabama to Dofin and Axie Jane Roper. He was one of fourteen children. Eleven of his siblings preceded him in death. He passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the age of 94. In 1946 he married Marie Dickinson. From this union two children were born, Mildred and Calvin, Jr. His wife preceded him in death in 1993.

Calvin was a truck driver until he retired. He joined Greater Fellowship Baptist Church, where he met and married Mary Mason. To this union he gained three step-children, Melody, James, and Deidre.

In addition to his children and step-children, Calvin leaves to cherish his memory, fifteen grandchildren; two sisters, Mae (DeLeon) Burroughs, Lillian (Carl) Fleming; one brother, Dolfin (Lilly) Roper, Jr.; son-in-law, John Ambrose; daughter-in-law, Denise Roper; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of dear loving relatives and friends.

Deacon Roper loved the Lord with all his heart and was always ready to tell you about Jesus. His favorite pastimes were fishing, baking cakes, and spending time with family.



Funeral Ceremony will be 11:00 am Saturday, September 1, 2018 with a visitation from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Greater Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 505 East Liberty, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202.
