He was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on June 16, 1943 to the late Marvin and Wilma Sportel-LaRoy. Mr. LaRoy was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and served his country during the Vietnam War.
Gerald is survived by his beloved Wife of 52 years, Sandy Birkbeck-LaRoy; three children Greg LaRoy, David (Amy) LaRoy and Linda (Rick) Johnson; nine grandchildren Nikki (Jeremy) Luthy, Robbie LaRoy, Christina LaRoy, Abigail LaRoy, Allison LaRoy, Hannah LaRoy, Sean LaRoy, Alexandria (Kenneth Brooks) Johnson and Michael (Holli Lockwitz) Johnson; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Bob (Sharon) LaRoy and Dale (Sherry) LaRoy as well as a host of other extended family members and friends all of whom will cherish his memory.
Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, May 10, 2018 with a visitation from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 4350 Dixie Highway, Erlanger, Kentucky 41018. Pastor Bill Slaven will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North at the convenience of the family.
