He was preceded in death by his parents; his former spouses, Myrtle and Laeuna; his brothers and sisters; and step-son, Jimmy Hinkle. Hugh is survived by his wife, Ruby Mathis; his daughter, Arlene Wilkerson and her husband Walter; his son, Michael Mathis and his wife Pauline; his step-son, Billy Hinkle and his wife Aneita; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held at the Newcomer Funeral Home on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 11 am with Pastor Tim Kufeldt officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 am until time of service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to, The Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL. 33607.
