In Memory Of
Emma L. "EMMA O" Overstreet
1947 - 2014
Emma was born on February 26, 1947. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry A. and Emma M (nee Turpin) Overstreet. She was also preceded in death by her brother Henry A. Overstreet.
Emma is survived by her children Tania M. Overstreet, Henry (Tracey) Shields Jr. and her grandchildren, Dominique, Jessica, Alivia, and Ryan. Emma was the third child of a family of six children. She is also survived by her sisters, Marian, Henrietta, Lydia, and Elaine.
Emma was a very caring and loving person. There is nothing she wouldn’t do for you if she could. She was a very strong woman and very independent. She loved her children and her grandkids very, very much. She was a good disciplinarian and instilled strong values, but she still let us know that we were truly loved. Anyone who knew Emma knew not to get on her bad side, but also saw the wonderful person she was. Let’s just say you will never forget her.
She made Lincoln Heights, where she was raised and grew up, her home. She didn’t graduate from Lincoln Heights, but she did go back to school in 1980 and got her GED. She went to college and got her Associate Degree in Business Administration in 1983. She worked in retail for many years. For years WearMagic was her second home, where she made a new host of friends.
There is so much that could be said about Emma, but one thing is for sure – she was loved, will be missed, and will never be forgotten.
