Carolyn Harris (Mayo) was born on August 22, 1934 to the union of the late Robert and Alma (Sutton) Mayo in Cincinnati, Ohio. Carolyn was the fifth of nine children. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband George Harris Jr., youngest son, Alando B. Harris, granddaughter Sharmaine D. Harris-Bradley, siblings, Frank Mayo, Robert Mayo Jr., Harley Mayo, Mary Walls, and Charles Mayo. Carolyn was raised in the West End, where she graduated from Mother of Mercy Catholic High School.

Carolyn married George Harris Jr., in 1952, blessing this union with nine children; six girls, and 3 boys. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Last year, for her 80th birthday, she informed her children, that she wanted to have a Big Birthday Party, stating that she wanted to see everyone in her family, because this may be her last one. In her spare time, you would find Carolyn downstairs in the building where she lived, in deep concentration, putting jigsaw puzzles together. She also enjoyed playing bingo on Tuesday afternoons and Thursday nights, and during the week, she would play various card games with the residents, and traveled on many outings with her friend Lucille in and out of town. She was called the fasionista of the building, always matching her outfits from head to toe!

Carolyn Leaves to cherish her fond memories, eight children; Estherlita Mills, Rhetta J. Humphrey(Gary), George Harris III, Darryl W. Harris, Benita L. Harris, Alisa E. McMillan(Frederick), Tanya L. Vaughn(Derek), Lillian S. Harris; two special grandchildren that were raised as her children, Mario J. Harris, and Latasha R. (Joe) Harris-Tye; two sisters, Lillian Wiles(Ronald), Margaret Bomar; one brother, Willie D. Mayo; sisters in law, Lurine, Dorothy, and Charlene Mayo; one aunt, Birdie Dudley; 29 grandchildren; numerous great, great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.

Funeral Ceremony will be 11:00 am Friday, March 27, 2015 with a visitation from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home - Northwest Chapel, 7830 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231.
